Siraj strikes early as Head departs in the first ODI with a fiery delivery

On March 17, India and Australia will play the first of three one-day internationals in Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium. Hardik Pandya, India’s captain, won the toss and chose to bat first. Mitchell Marsh and Travis Head of Australia stepped out to the middle to get their team off to a fast start.

Their expectations were dashed, however, when Mohammed Siraj removed the in-form Head in the second over of the innings. When the southpaw came out of his crease to smash it over covers, the seamer produced a solid length ball from over the wicket, travelling away with the angle.

Head, on the other hand, got an inside edge that went directly into his leg stump and demolished it. Siraj struck early for India once again, and his sparkling form with the ball continued.

Since 2022, the 29-year-old has taken 39 wickets in 21 ODIs, making him the top wicket-taker. His outstanding bowling form has propelled him to the top of the ICC ODI bowler rankings in January 2023. He presently holds the top slot with 729 rating points, two points ahead of Josh Hazlewood, who is in second place.
