As the Indian Premier League 2023 season begins, Mumbai Indians will be anxious to win the prized title for the sixth time. Since Jasprit Bumrah was unable to recuperate from his injury in time, he will miss the whole IPL 2023 season, which would be a significant loss for the Rohit Sharma-led team.
After a disappointing season last year, the Mumbai Indians reinforced their IPL 2023 lineup during the December 2022 auction. At the IPL 2022 super auction, Mumbai paid a record INR 8 crore for England bowler Jofra Archer, despite knowing he would be out due to medical worries.
Nevertheless, that decision will benefit the Mumbai Indians franchise this time around, as Archer is expected to join the team and be available for the whole length of the IPL 2023. Sunil Gavaskar, a former India cricketer and a game veteran, feels Archer’s inclusion in the squad would boost Mumbai’s prospects this season and that the bowler will be the team’s trump card.
“Jofra Archer is unquestionably a trump card. With his ODI double hundred, Ishan Kishan will be someone to keep an eye on. And I believe Rohit Sharma will do something extremely exceptional this season,” Gavaskar told Star Sports.
