Under Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s leadership, the Indian team won several awards. The great wicketkeeper-batter demonstrated why he was the finest in business not just as a player, but also as a tough leader. He has made outstanding contributions not only to the National squad, but also to the Indian Premier League club Chennai Super Kings, guiding the team to four titles since its inception in 2008.
MS Dhoni is the first male captain in history to have won all three ICC trophies, including the T20 World Cup in 2007, the ODI World Cup in 2011, and the Champions Trophy in 2013. At this period, India had a star-studded batting lineup, with Sachin Tendulkar heading the batting unit and players like Anil Kumble and Harbhajan Singh boosting the bowling assault.
In terms of bowlers, Harbhajan Singh took over for Anil Kumble as India’s top spinner, while Zaheer Khan led the team’s speed attack. Harbhajan Singh played a key role in India’s triumphs in 2007 and 2011. But the former India off-spinner, however, admitted that the finest experience of his career was playing under Dhoni in the IPL while representing CSK.
“Unbelievable. Those two years were perhaps the greatest of my cricket career. There is no tension or drama. You just go out there and don’t care about the outcome. It doesn’t matter if you lose. This was something unique. That was a lot of fun. Everyone was present. Not just the players, but also their families. “We used to go across India with a lot of people, so it was tremendous fun,” Harbhajan stated during a Star Sports interview.
Harbhajan Singh was a member of the CSK side that won the championship for the third time in 2018, and he played an important role as the club’s most experienced spinner. CSK beat Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL 2021 final to win the trophy for the fourth time, while Harbhajan was on the opposing team that year.
Chennai Super Kings had a disappointing season last year, finishing ninth in the IPL points standings and missing out on the playoffs. This time around, the squad had a fantastic auction, and Dhoni will be looking to lead the club to their fifth championship triumph.
