Former India cricketer Aakash Chopra commented on Royal Challengers Bangalore’s (RCB) struggles in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) before of their next match against UP Warriorz. The two teams are due to meet battle on Wednesday, March 15 at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai.
Despite their star-studded lineup, Smriti Mandhana’s RCB have yet to win a game in five appearances. If the team is unable to alter their fortunes on the pitch, they may end up with a wooden spoon at the end of the season. Former cricketer Aakash Chopra made a harsh statement on their campaign, claiming that RCB “will not” win the WPL.
“It is an important game for both teams but I believe RCB will not obtain a victory again. The RCB’s issue is that Smriti Mandhana made a friend request to the form, but it was not accepted. Sophie Ecclestone and Deepti Sharma will be in front of her, but I believe the friend request will be granted today,” Aakash remarked on his YouTube channel.
RCB suffered their fifth consecutive defeat after being severely thrashed by Delhi Capitals in their last outing. Importantly, qualifying to the Elimination round may be out of reach, as RCB rely on a variety of criteria to finish in the top three. Aakash, on the other hand, feels that their season has been ruined by the five defeats.
“Smriti Mandhana’s days are going terrible and RCB are having a similarly horrible time. They’ve played five games and haven’t won a single one. For all intents and purposes, their tournament is over. They will not advance, but they may ruin someone’s celebration,” he warned.
RCB, on the other hand, has a chance to qualify if they win their remaining three games. Also, the top two teams, Mumbai and Delhi, both win their matches against the Gujarat Giants and the UP Warriorz. RCB will also need Gujarat to defeat UP Warriorz in order to finish in the top three.
