India’s head coach, Rahul Dravid, has given his response to the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) rating of the Indore pitch as ‘poor’ and subsequent three demerit points. Dravid addressed the media ahead of the fourth and final Test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, stating that the Indian team is solely focused on winning the red-ball clash.
The pitches had been a topic of much discussion before the series, with accusations that the Indian management had tampered with the surfaces to favor the home team. However, Dravid refrained from commenting on the matter and instead highlighted the importance of playing on wickets that produce results, especially with the World Test Championship points at stake.
“109 were less in the first innings last game. 60-70 more could have made the difference. The Ahmedabad pitch (fourth Test) looks okay. Lot of talk around pitches. Whatever it is, we have to learn to play on them,” Dravid said during the pre-match conference.
The former cricketer also mentioned that the Ahmedabad pitch looks suitable for play and indicated that the Indian team is not bothered by the discussions surrounding pitches. Instead, they are more focused on learning to adapt and play on various types of pitches.
