Indian cricketer Prithvi Shaw has recently spoken about his omission from India’s playing XI in the T20I series against New Zealand, which took place from January to February 2023. Shaw had not played a T20I for India since 2021 against Sri Lanka and was hoping to make a comeback in the New Zealand series. However, the Indian think-tank decided to bench him throughout the series, preferring Shubman Gill due to his double century against New Zealand in the home ODI series, which India won by a margin of 2-1.
After fans and cricket experts expressed their emotions on social media regarding the Indian management’s decision, Shaw shared his views about the issue. He stated that he respected the management’s decision to provide an opportunity to someone before him and believed that it was important to maintain the sanctity of such decisions for the betterment of the team. The 23-year-old opening batter emphasized that he holds no malice against the Indian management and will continue to work hard and wait patiently for the right time to represent India again.
Shaw expressed happiness at being called back to the T20I squad and being given a chance to make a comeback. He stated that even being a part of the squad was significant and he would keep looking for opportunities to achieve his goals with the Indian team. Shaw concluded by saying that he was not disheartened by the situation and would continue to score runs to prove himself worthy of being selected for the Indian team.
