Dinesh Karthik expresses confidence in Mohammed Siraj’s inclusion in the 2023 World Cup ODI team

Dinesh Karthik, a well-known Indian wicketkeeper-batter, has expressed his admiration for his Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) teammate, Mohammed Siraj, who was recently named the top ODI bowler in the world. Siraj had a remarkable year with the ball for India in 2022, which earned him a long run in the national team, particularly in the 50-over format.

According to Karthik, Siraj’s improvement with the ball at the highest level has been phenomenal. His performances in the international arena have been consistent, which is why Karthik is confident that he will undoubtedly be a part of the Indian squad for the 50-over World Cup later this year.

Despite his exceptional bowling skills, Karthik attributes Siraj’s success to his intensity and hunger to perform well for the team. Karthik believes that if Siraj maintains his fitness, he could become one of India’s best fast bowlers in red-ball cricket and take 300 wickets in the longest format of the game.

Karthik credited Siraj’s underwhelming performance in IPL 2022, which ignited a fire in him, for his success. He believes that it taught Siraj a lot about handling failures, which has kept him in good stead.

In an interview with Cricbuzz’s ‘Rise of New India,’ Karthik said, “I’m very sure that he would be part of the 2023 World Cup team. He deserves that spot; he has done really well. The 2022 IPL taught him a lot of things about handling failures, and that has kept him in good stead. I see him as one of those — let’s just say he doesn’t get injuries — at least a 300-wicket Test bowler.”
