Dinesh Karthik, the Indian cricketer, made an impressive comeback to domestic cricket by scoring a remarkable 75 off 38 deliveries in the DY Patil T20 competition in Navi Mumbai. Karthik is currently part of the commentary panel in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023 between India and Australia. With the second Test ending within three days, the wicket-keeper batter used the opportunity to play in the domestic competition, where he demonstrated his aggressive batting style.
Karthik is renowned for his flamboyant batting, and his stupendous performance in the cash-rich IPL 2022 for the Royal Challengers Bangalore earned him a place in India’s squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia. However, after India’s 10-wicket defeat to England, he was dropped from the India T20 squad.
After being sidelined from the team, he resumed his commentary stint. In the upcoming IPL 2023, which is scheduled to commence on March 31, Karthik will once again be seen in the RCB jersey.
Karthik’s superb performance came during DY Patil Group B encounter when they were struggling at 66/3 against RBI. Initially, the 37-year-old took some time to settle down, but once he found his rhythm, there was no stopping him. Karthik played a 75-run cameo that included six sixes and five boundaries, helping DY Patil Group B finish on 186/6 in their 20 overs.
RBI lost wickets at regular intervals with the scoreboard reading 161/7 in their allotted 20 overs. Besides Karthik’s knock, Ali Murtaza and Shams Mulani also made notable contributions for the home side.
Karthik will return to microphone duties for the third Test between India and Australia, which is scheduled to be played from March 1 at the Holkar Stadium in Indore.
