India continued their dominant form in the ongoing Border Gavaskar Trophy as they registered an impressive victory over Australia in the Delhi Test, taking a 2-0 lead in the series. Skipper Rohit Sharma’s brilliant knock, coupled with Ashwin and Jadeja’s magical performances with the ball, helped the hosts secure the win in Nagpur during the first Test.
The second Test saw an improved performance from Australia, but they faltered in the innings, losing to India’s sensational bowling display. After a 5-month injury layoff, Ravindra Jadeja emerged as the star of the match, picking seven wickets in the second innings of the second Test.
Meanwhile, Axar Patel has also shone in the series with the bat, scoring 158 runs in two matches, making him the second-highest run-scorer after Rohit Sharma. However, Patel has had fewer overs to bowl, which raised questions from him as to why he was not getting a chance.
“Sir, meri to bowling aa nahi rahi hai. Axar ko bowling nahi dena hai isliye aisa ball dal rahe ho kya? (Sir, are you bowling like this so that Axar doesn’t get a chance to bowl?),” Axar was quoted as saying.
Jadeja, who was named Player of the Match in both matches after his sensational performances, said that his strategy was to bowl stump to stump, knowing that the Australians prefer playing the sweep and reverse sweep, and targeting their wickets.
The Indian team has been in great form, and Jadeja’s comeback after a long injury layoff has been a significant boost for them.
