The Delhi Capitals have had a slew of brilliant players over the years, but the Delhi-based Indian Premier League (IPL) side has yet to win a championship. They would, however, want to win gold in the debut season of the Women’s Premier League.
DC is known for offering opportunities to develop talents in Indian cricket. Save for one, they have signed every Indian U19 World Cup-winning captain. The only Indian U19 skipper who won the U19 World Cup but was not picked up by the Delhi Capitals (Delhi Daredevils at the time) in the initial season of the IPL was legendary Indian batter, Virat Kohli.
If Kohli had been named to DC’s team in 2008, things may have been very different. They signed Unmukt Chand in 2012, Prithvi Shaw in 2018, Yaah Dhull in 2022, and now Shafali Verma for the WPL’s debut season in 2023.
