Shreyas Iyer will join India team for Delhi Test against Australia

Shreyas Iyer, India’s batsman, has finished his rehab and will be available for the second Test against Australia. According to a BCCI media advisory, Iyer has been cleared by the BCCI’s medical panel and will be available for selection when India takes on Australia on February 17.

Iyer’s absence was hardly noticed in the squad during the first Test, as India trounced the Australians throughout. Rohit Sharma made a magnificent century, while Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja shone with the ball.

Iyer’s selection in the team might solve India’s middle-order conundrum. In Iyer’s absence, Suryakumar Yadav made his Test debut with KS Bharat in the first match. Both players failed to rise to the occasion and execute with the bat.

Team India now leads the series 1-0 and will try to assert its domination as soon as the second Test begins in Delhi against Australia. It would be intriguing to watch who India fields in their next encounter. Suryakumar might be sent out if Shreyas Iyer returns.

Todd Murphy, who made his debut in the opening encounter, will be relied on once again by Australia. During the match, the 22-year-old grabbed seven wickets and was the only Australian bowler that India battled against.

Australia will also make alterations to its starting lineup. David Warner’s performance in the first Test was poor, but the 36-year-old will almost certainly get another shot in the following encounter. If the squad can counter India’s spin onslaught, they may have a chance to win the game. On Friday, February 17, both teams will meet off at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
