India to host the second Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi starting Friday, February 17. The stadium has a seating capacity of nearly 40,000, with 24,000 tickets sold to the public and 8,000 distributed among the Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) members. The remaining seats will be reserved for VIPs and VVIPs. Rajan Manchanda, the DDCA joint secretary, has confirmed that all tickets have been sold and they expect a full house for the Test match.
India leads the four-match series 1-0 after winning the first Test in Nagpur by an innings and 132 runs in two and a half days. The match witnessed a poor display by the Australian batters as they managed to score only 177 runs in their first innings. In response, India scored a massive 400 runs, taking a 223-run lead with captain Rohit Sharma scoring a century. Australia, in their second innings, could only manage 91 runs, resulting in a victory for India. The win has also increased India’s chances of making it to the World Test Championship final. The Arun Jaitley Stadium is hosting a Test match after a gap of more than five years.
