Prasidh Krishna, an Indian pacer, has been out of action for six months and, according to sources, requires additional time to recuperate entirely. Notably, the 26-year-old sustained a stress fracture, and if he does not heal soon enough, he may miss out on playing in the 2018 ODI World Cup.
The cricketer last played for India during their August 2022 trip to Zimbabwe, and he has been undergoing rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bangalore since then. In his absence, Mohammed Siraj has performed well, and as a result of his outstanding performances, the Hyderbad-born cricketer has risen to become the world’s top ODI bowler. As a result, even if Krishna heals on time, he may find it tough to immediately return to the XI.
Meanwhile, a BCCI official verified Prasidh’s injury and said that the player is still not able to return and that it is impossible to tell when he will.
“Prasidh has a stress fracture and in case of this specific sort of injury, you cannot place a timetable on a future return. Every player has a unique body type, thus the recuperation process and time frame may vary. That might be anything from six months to a year. In the case of Prasidh, he is still not able to play, and it is terrible that he missed the whole domestic season, according to a BCCI official reported by India Today.
According to rumours, if Krishna wants to join the World Cup team, he must return as soon as possible. The bowler missed the whole domestic season and will only be able to prove his abilities and re-enter the Indian team in the IPL.
But, it seems improbable at the time. The Karnataka-born pacer has been undergoing intensive rehabilitation, but things aren’t looking good right now. As a result, his availability in the 2018 IPL is also doubtful.
