On the third day of the first Test in Nagpur, Team India maintained their lead. After a superb bowling effort against Australia on Day 1, in which Australia managed to score 177 runs, India replied with a huge 400 runs at the conclusion of its first innings.
The second innings was no different for Australia, as their difficulty persisted. Ravichandran Ashwin got a fifer this time after Ravindra Jadeja’s five-wicket haul in the first innings to make things tough for Australia.
Ashwin removed both Australian openers, Usman Khawaja and David Warner, who had two dismal efforts in a row. This is Ashwin’s 11th Test dismissal of Warner, which ties him with Ben Stokes for the most dismissals of a batsman. The 36-year-old then came on to wreck havoc on Australia’s middle order, dismissing Matt Renshaw, Peter Handscomb, and Alex Carey.
