As Team India prepares for the highly-anticipated Border Gavaskar Trophy against Australia, former skipper Kapil Dev has shared his thoughts on the absence of wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant, who was involved in a car crash in December 2022 and is still recovering from his injuries.
While expressing love for the young southpaw, Kapil Dev also emphasized the importance of responsible behaviour and warned Pant not to repeat the mistake. In an interview with Indian Express, the former all-rounder said, “I have a lot of love for him. I want him to recover so that I can go and slap him and tell him to look after himself. Because of your accident, the entire team is in tatters. I love him, but I am also angry at him. Why do such youngsters of today’s times make such mistakes?”
In the meantime, Rishabh Pant gave an update on his recovery through an Instagram story, sharing a picture and a caption reading, “Never knew just able to sit out and breathe fresh air feels so blessed.” The 25-year-old underwent two surgeries on his knee after the accident and will not be participating in the Border Gavaskar Trophy.
