The latest MRF Tyres ICC Men’s T20I Player Rankings have seen significant gains for several Indian cricketers, including opener Shubman Gill and all-rounder Hardik Pandya.
Gill, who slammed a match-winning century in the third and final ODI against New Zealand, has jumped 168 spots to reach a career-best 30th position in the T20I rankings. This comes after his recent centuries in all three formats of the game, including his sixth-place ranking in ODIs and 62nd place in Tests.
Team-mate Arshdeep Singh, who was part of the ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup-winning squad in 2018, has also made gains in the rankings, rising eight slots to reach a career-best 13th position after finishing with two for 16 in the recent match against New Zealand.
Hardik Pandya, who had a standout performance with four for 16 and a 17-ball 30, has made progress in all three lists. He has risen from 53rd to 50th among batters, 66th to 46th among bowlers, and is now in second place among all-rounders, just a couple of rating points behind Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hassan.
Meanwhile, New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell has gained four spots and is now in joint-25th position in the T20I rankings after scoring 35 in their match against India. England’s Jos Buttler has also risen six places to 20th position after his match-winning 131 in Kimberley, while South Africa’s Lungi Ngidi has advanced five places to reach 19th position after finishing with four for 62 in the high-scoring match.
England’s Dawid Malan has risen 31 places to 58th among batters, and Jofra Archer has moved up 13 places to 22nd among bowlers. South Africa’s Heinrich Klaasen has also gained 11 places to reach 42nd among batters.
