Suresh Raina likens Ravi Bishnoi to Rashid Khan

The Indian Premier League has seen a slew of cricketers from across the globe make an everlasting mark on the game’s shortest format. Yet, like with any athlete, even the finest must give way to the new generation as time passes. Aakash Chopra put it succinctly: “When the light of a celebrity sets, another must rise.”

In ‘Next-Gen Superstars,’ a new episode of ‘Legends Lounge’ available on JioCinema, the former India opener was joined by RP Singh, Robin Uthappa, Pragyan Ojha, Suresh Raina, and Parthiv Patel as they explored which future players appear ready to begin their reign in the flagship event.

Raina initially mentioned Arshdeep Singh before stating why he believes Ravi Bishnoi deserves to be recognised among bowlers. “When you look at all of the major bowlers who have earned their stripes in Test cricket, I believe Bishnoi, with his attitude and delivery style, will become someone like Rashid Khan.”

Ojha mentioned Abhishek Sharma as a rising talent to keep an eye on before describing what makes Tilak Varma unique. “He’s originally from Hyderabad. I’ve been watching his growth since he was a child. I’m referring to him and how hard he works in U-15 and U-16 cricket. His timetable calls for him to leave at 6 a.m. and return at 6 p.m. He only takes a 30-45-minute break for lunch. He is completely committed.”

Varma’s potential was also mentioned by Uthappa, who praised his impressive efforts for the Mumbai Indians previous season. Despite his short run-up, he chose Mohsin Khan as his bowler of choice because to his remarkable quick bowling ability.
