ILT20: Zampa & Munsey Power Capitals to Dominant Victory

The Dubai Capitals secured a comprehensive 7-wicket win against the Abu Dhabi Knight Riders in the International League T20, thanks to the impressive performance of George Munsey and Adam Zampa. Munsey’s 43-ball 57 and the contributions of other Capitals’ batters saw the team successfully chase down the target of 150 runs with 14 balls to spare.

Zampa, on the other hand, played a crucial role in laying the foundation of the victory with his figures of 3 for 16. He restricted the Knight Riders from posting a competitive score, despite Joe Clarke’s rapid 52 from 27 deliveries. Other top-order batsmen for Knight Riders struggled to find momentum against the spinners, with the exception of Sunil Narine who struck some powerful blows towards the end of the innings. Nevertheless, a series of extras helped the team reach a seemingly competitive score.

The Capitals started strongly, with Niroshan Dickwella’s strokeplay leading to a score of 59 runs in the powerplay, before he was dismissed. Munsey maintained the dominance for the Capitals in the run chase and added another half-century stand of 62 for the second wicket. Although Munsey was later dismissed by Dasun Shanaka, the outcome of the match was already in the Capitals’ favour, and the victory was secured by Rovman Powell and Sikandar Raza.
