Washington Sundar, has disclosed that he has been focusing on improving his batting abilities in order to become a really effective all-rounder capable of winning games for India.
Team India is presently playing a three-match T20I series against Team New Zealand, with the second T20I scheduled for January 29 at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow.
“I’ve been working on it specially for the last year or so. “I’m delighted it’s all coming at the right moment, and I’m also kind of collecting more knowledge as I bat in such circumstances, particularly in match settings,” the 23-year-old said in a video posted by the BCCI ahead of the second T20I in Lucknow.
For the last year, the left-handed bowling all-rounder has been taking rigorous hitting lessons and working hard to improve his batting abilities. He expressed his delight, saying that he was relieved that the findings had arrived so quickly.
With such outcomes, he may strive harder to become a true all-rounder for his team, someone who can win matches for India with both the bat and the ball whenever necessary.
“The ultimate goal for me is to win games for India, and that’s where I want to be and what I’m aiming for,” the all-rounder said.
New Zealand has already taken a 1-0 lead in the series, and the Men in Blue would need to win the second T20I to even the series and force a decider. Sundar also discussed the attitude in the camp over this circumstance.
“It will undoubtedly be exciting. It’s a game of life and death. But one thing about such games is that, particularly in large tournaments, these types of emotions will undoubtedly surface. Whatever it takes to win these kinds of games will undoubtedly aid us in winning huge games in large tournaments,” he added.
