Prithvi Shaw, an India cricketer, was once again left out of India’s playing XI in the 2nd T20I against New Zealand at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.
The Men in Blue trail the Black Caps 1-0 after winning the opening T20I easily by 21 runs. India will want to win the second T20I to tie the series and set up an exciting finale on February 1.
Team India made just one alteration to their playing XI before the second T20I, and that was in the bowling department. They opted to replace promising fast bowler Umran Malik with spinner Yuzvendra Chahal. Fans were quick to note the movement and voice their dissatisfaction with Prithvi Shaw being omitted from the series again.
Recently, as on previous occasions, the Indian management’s thinking process and approach in picking players for the national team have raised many eyebrows.
Prithvi Shaw had a fantastic domestic season and was in such good form that practically everyone predicted the 23-year-old would be racing back into India’s starting XI. But here we are in the second T20I, and Prithvi is yet to emerge in the blue jersey. He has only appeared in one T20I for India, which occurred in 2021.
Fans also chastised Hardik Pandya’s ruthless leadership. They accused him of having no expertise in squad selection, keeping balance and momentum within the team, and, most importantly, supporting the guys on the bench.
Shaw’s return after a successful domestic performance in which he scored 363 runs in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2022. Despite the run-scoring surge, India stuck with Shubman Gill as their opener.
