The United States of America has planned to organise an extra FairBreak Global Invitational T20 (FBI) tournament in September 2023. The competition features female cricketers from all around the globe, and the inclusion of players from Associate countries is the event’s distinguishing feature.
The International Cricket Council, the world’s governing body of cricket, has officially sanctioned this competition (ICC). In May 2022, the inaugural season was held in Dubai in conjunction with Cricket Hong Kong.
Following the FBI’s huge success in 2022, the tournament will begin its second year in 2023, with the first part taking place from April 3 to 16 in Hong Kong, and an extra round taking place in the United States in September 2023.
This initiative is primarily intended to popularise cricket in more regions of the globe and, more significantly, to encourage ladies from all walks of life to participate in professional sports. In addition, due to the FBI’s growing popularity, FairBreak Global will now hold two tournaments every year as a requirement.
The USA Cricket board published a statement focusing on the mutual cooperation between FairBreak and USA Cricket, saying, “By working cooperatively, FairBreak and USA Cricket are promoting gender equality and the promotion of women’s and girl’s cricket internationally,” as reported by ESPNcricinfo.
Six teams will compete in the FairBreak Invitational in April 2023 in Hong Kong. USA Cricket aspires to have up to twelve of its best players invited to the FairBreak Invitational in September 2023.
“We couldn’t be more thrilled to cooperate with FairBreak, and to showcase an event here in the United States,” said Vinay Bhimjiani, the newly appointed interim CEO of USA Cricket. I’ve been collaborating with FairBreak creator Shaun Martyn, and we both think that this will be an excellent competition for cricket fans of all ages, genders, and cultures to enjoy!”
