According to reports, flamboyant India batter and former captain Virat Kohli has given a BMW automobile worth INR 2.17 crore to newlywed couple KL Rahul and Athiya Shetty. KL Rahul, India’s wicketkeeper batter, and Athiya Shetty, Suniel Shetty’s daughter, married on January 23 at Suniel’s farmhouse in Khandala.
The pair exchanged wedding vows in front of relatives and close friends. According to reports, Kohli, who has known Rahul from his days with the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and is now part of the Indian team, has given the couple a BMW automobile worth INR 2.17 crore.
It is also said that Salman Khan, a close friend of Suniel Shetty, gave Athiya Shetty an Audi automobile worth INR 1.64 crore as one of the many lavish presents the couple got from family, friends, and relations.
Not only that, but Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the 2011 World Cup winning captain, is said to have given Rahul a Kawasaki Ninja bike worth INR 80 lakh. The wedding celebration for cricket and Bollywood’s new power couple will be held in Mumbai after the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Following the wedding ceremony, the couple posted the first photos from their wedding on Instagram with a heartfelt comment.
“In your light, I learn how to love…’. We married today, surrounded by our closest friends and family, in the house that has brought us so much pleasure and peace. “We want your blessings on this path of togetherness with a heart full of gratitude and love,” both Athiya and Rahul said on Instagram.
Meanwhile, the batsman has been excused from his current national obligations in the ongoing series against New Zealand. Team India won the ODI series 3-0 and will now concentrate on the T20Is, which begin on Friday, January 27.
