Colin Munro, a veteran New Zealand hitter, will be seen playing for the Notts Outlaws in the forthcoming T20 Blast. He is one of the most prolific run scorers in the game’s shortest format and can make a difference with his hard-hitting abilities.
In 365 T20 appearances, the 35-year-old has scored 9195 runs at a strike rate of 140.87. He is well-known for his aggressive hitting in the Caribbean Premier League and the Big Bash League (BBL), and he was also a member of the Trent Rockets team that won The Hundred in 2022. Meanwhile, the top-order hitter said that he would continue to play aggressive cricket after joining with the Nottingham-based squad.
“I saw firsthand how much the audience gets behind the team with the Rockets last summer and when I was lucky, or unfortunate, enough to face the Outlaws at home. I’m joining a squad that plays aggressive cricket, which complements my style and how I want to score runs. “I’d want to come in and contribute my expertise to what is already a well-oiled machine,” Munro said.
Nottinghamshire head coach Peter Moores was overjoyed with Munro’s acquisition, stating that the batsman would add experience, talent, and a good style of play to the club.
“We’ve spoken a lot about Dan [Christian] and what he brought to us in terms of experience, talent, and a great, energetic style of play. Colin is in the same boat as me. He’s got his game together, he’s played T20 cricket all around the globe, and he’ll help Alex Hales at the top of the order “Moores said.
“We’re aware that Ben [Duckett] has done really well for England, and there’s a good potential that we’ll miss him for some of the summer. One of the reasons we wanted to bring Colin in was to ensure we had that depth of knowledge to draw on,” he continued.
