Rohit Sharma’s Match-Winning Century Praised by Former Indian Cricketer Wasim Jaffer in IND vs NZ ODI Series

Former Indian cricketer, Wasim Jaffer, has praised Indian skipper, Rohit Sharma, for his exceptional performance in the 3rd ODI match against New Zealand on Tuesday, January 24. Jaffer highlighted the importance of Sharma returning to form ahead of the ODI World Cup, which is set to take place later this year.

Rohit Sharma played a match-winning knock of 101 runs off just 85 balls, leading India to a 90-run victory over New Zealand and a 3-0 series whitewash. Jaffer praised Sharma for his performance, stating that he looked like the “vintage Rohit Sharma” and that he had done his homework perfectly.

“Rohit has been in magnificent form in this series. He’s looking like the vintage Rohit Sharma. Shubman Gill is just carrying on from the last 2-3 innings. You understand that it’s not going to be like that throughout that 50 overs,” said Jaffer.

Jaffer also praised the performance of Shubman Gill, who scored 112 runs off 78 balls, as the opening duo provided India with a 212-run opening stand. Jaffer credited the opening duo for providing a strong start and disrupting the momentum of the New Zealand team.

“When the openers give you such a blistering start, in 50 overs it’s very difficult to bat at 9-10 an over for such a long period. You’ve got to give credit to how Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill started the innings,” Jaffer added.
