Alyssa Healy on Fire: Women’s IPL to Light Up the World of Women’s Cricket!

As the world eagerly awaits the debut of the Women’s Indian Premier League (WIPL), one of the top female cricketers in the world, Alyssa Healy, is confident that the tournament will have a major impact on the growth and popularity of women’s cricket globally.

The Australian wicket-keeper batter, currently ranked number one in the ICC Women’s ODI Batter’s list, believes that the introduction of the WIPL will put pressure on other organizations and countries to promote and support women’s sport.

“The Women’s IPL is going to change women’s cricket for the better,” Healy said in an interview with ESPNcricinfo during Australia’s recent T20I series against India. “It’s probably going to put a lot of pressure on other global organizations, or countries around the world, to lift – that’s probably the best way that I’ll put it.”

Healy also expressed excitement about the buzz and attention the WIPL is already generating and believes that the tournament will attract not just cricket fans, but all sports enthusiasts.

“The most exciting thing about it is that it’s happening and that there’s some buzz around it,” she said. “It’s just going to be great for the game over here in India.”

She also noted that the tournament will provide an opportunity for players from around the world to come to India, play on world-class grounds, and gain exposure and experience.

“It’s the next step for the game and the opportunity for some players to come over [to India] and play in a world-class tournament, at great grounds, and be very well supported is the next stage of the game,” Healy said.

As the inaugural WIPL approaches, the excitement and anticipation continues to build, with many, including Alyssa Healy, confident that the tournament will prove to be a game-changer for women’s cricket.
