Dewald Brevis idolizes Indian cricket stars Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav

Dewald Brevis, the batting sensation for MI Cape Town, has expressed his admiration for Indian cricket stars Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav. He also shared his experience of playing in the Indian Premier League (IPL) with the five-time title holders Mumbai Indians. In the last edition of the IPL, Brevis amassed 161 runs in seven outings and is currently performing well for MI Cape Town in the SA20 league.

In an interview with India Today, Brevis said, “My blood is blue, and my favourite colour is blue. So, to just be able to be part of this one family, it’s been amazing like the setup everything is absolutely fantastic here in Cape Town, just like it is in Mumbai itself. So, to be part of this family is absolutely amazing. I idolised a lot of players like for example, Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar (Yadav) and all other big players, I absolutely enjoyed playing with these legends.”

Brevis also mentioned that working under the likes of batting coach Hashim Amla and head coach Simon Katich has helped him improve in various facets of the game. He said, “It’s new things that you pick up from them. They give you vital information. Hash (Hashim Amla), he’s such an amazing coach and person so he just brings calmness in me and helps me move a lot of things. Same with coach Simon (Katich), he’s amazing as the coach. So, there’s always time to share things and learn from him. We always speak a lot about that and about things going on with my batting. So all the coaches share so much good information that you can take into your game.”

MI Cape Town currently stands second on the points table and with a few matches to go in the league phase, the side will look to cement their spot in the semi-finals. Brevis has also had a noteworthy performance earlier in November, 2022 with a blistering knock of an unbeaten 162 off just 57 balls in a match during the CSA T20 Challenge.
