Ex-Manager Cheats India Pacer Umesh Yadav out of INR 44 Lakh

India’s senior pacer, Umesh Yadav, has reportedly been cheated out of INR 44 lakh by his friend and former manager, Shailesh Thakre. According to a police official, Thakre, who is 37 years old and resides in Koradi, Maharashtra, close to Nagpur, had gained the trust of the cricketer over time, and had been managing his finances, including his bank account and income tax.

The official added that Umesh had been planning to purchase a plot in Nagpur and had consulted Thakre regarding the same.

However, Thakre allegedly located a plot in a barren area and told Umesh he would get it for INR 44 lakh, but instead, he purchased the plot in his own name with the money transferred by Umesh. When Umesh became aware of the fraud, he asked Thakre to transfer the ownership of the plot in his name and when the accused denied doing so, the cricketer asked him to return his money. But, when Thakre did not return the money either, Umesh filed a complaint with Koradi police, who registered a case under sections 406 (Punishment for criminal breach of trust) and 420 (Cheating and thereby dishonestly inducing delivery of property) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
