It seems like there’s some drama brewing in the Mumbai cricket scene. The former captain and current selector of Mumbai, Milind Rege, has taken issue with the recent comments made by Mumbai batter, Sarfaraz Khan. Sarfaraz has been in tremendous form in the domestic circuit, particularly in the Ranji Trophy, scoring runs at will and claiming some mind-boggling records.
However, Rege was extremely critical of the 25-year-old’s ‘immaturity’ while speaking to the media about his recent snub from national selection. He stated that Khan should just keep doing his job and not worry about what is supposed to happen. If there will be a place in the team, he will definitely get it.
Rege also took issue with Khan’s comment that he reached out to his father for coaching, when Mumbai has been appointed with a coach as worthy and talented as Amol Muzumdar. Rege pointed out that even if you are a domestic cricket legend, that may not ensure you a berth in the Indian side.
It’s important for players to focus on their game and not get caught up in the politics of selection.
