Top Three Debutants to Keep an Eye on in IPL 2023

Many T20 talents from across the globe have stepped onto the cricket pitch to make the Indian Premier League their own. Certain players have already lit the IPL arena on fire in their first season. For example, Ben Stokes joined the T20 tournament in 2017 and wowed the globe with his spectacular exploits.

As the 16th season of the cash-rich tournament approaches, several IPL debutants have the potential to flourish. These cricketers have shown their worth on the field again and again, and all eyes will be on them in the next season of the T20 spectacular.

Here are the top three debutants to keep an eye on in the IPL 2023.

Joshua Little was born in the year 2022. At the outset of the innings, he made the ball speak and produced early breakthroughs for his team. The left-arm pacer was also outstanding at the death, unsettling hitters with his variations. Last year, he played in 26 T20Is and took 39 wickets at an economy of 7.58.

Little was outstanding in the T20 World Cup 2022. He was instrumental in Ireland’s historic victory against eventual T20 World winners England, taking two key wickets. In addition, the star pacer scored a hat trick against New Zealand. He finished the event with 11 scalps in seven games and a 7.00 economy.

Little’s value was skyrocketing in the run-up to the IPL 2023 auction, and the Gujarat Titans left no stone unturned in their pursuit of the Irish pacer. GT paid INR 4.4 crore for him. The 23-year-old hopes to impress in the forthcoming season of the cash-rich league.

Number 2. Sikandar Raza

Zimbabwe has produced numerous all-rounders, but none of the quality of Sikandar Raza. He has established his dominance in both international and T20 franchise events. The Sialkot native has 3123 runs in 160 T20 outings and 83 wickets at an economy of 7.31.

Raza dominated the T20 World Cup 2022 with his outstanding exploits. He took top-tier bowling attacks by surprise, scoring 219 runs in eight games with a strike rate of 147.97. In addition, the daring player baffled hitters with his variations and took 10 wickets at a 6.50 economy rate.

Raza was in top form, thus Punjab Kings chose to invest on him for IPL 2023. The great all-rounder was signed by PBKS for INR 50 lakh. The 36-year-old is a seasoned campaigner who will want to bring his A-game to the lucrative T20 tournament’s 16th edition.

Number 3. Cameron Green

Cameron Green’s all-around talents have lit up the world stage. Test cricket has been his happy hunting ground, with 806 runs scored in 18 matches at an average of 35.04 and 23 wickets taken at an average of 29.78. In T20Is, the 23-year-old has smashed 139 runs in eight games at a fantastic strike rate of 173.75 while also taking five wickets.

Green has shown his ability to hit in both the top and middle orders, providing flexibility to the batting order. On the field, the right-arm pacer has plagued hitters with the bounce he generates from the pitch and given Australia with crucial breakthroughs.

Green is an asset to any team, which is why the Mumbai Indians broke the cash to recruit the great all-rounder at the 2023 player auction. The five-time IPL winners paid an absurd fee of INR 17.5 crore for his services. It would be intriguing to see whether Cameron can justify his high salary in the following season.
