Rishabh Pant has been a match-winner for India in the game’s longest format. The 25-year-old has attacked the opposition from the start, scoring 2271 runs in 33 matches at an average of 43.67. He has also shown his worth in one-day internationals, scoring 865 runs in 30 matches at a strike rate of 106.65.

Pant has been amazing in the Indian Premier League. He has played in the competition since 2016, totaling 2838 runs in 98 matches with a strike rate of 147.97. The southpaw was named captain of the Delhi franchise for the 2021 season and led the team to the playoffs. However, he was unable to repeat the feat in the previous season, as DC finished sixth.

Pant was going to Roorkee when he was involved in an automobile accident on the Delhi-Dehradun route on December 30. He is presently hospitalised and being closely monitored. It is improbable that he will be fully healthy for the start of the 16th IPL season.

Chahar, on the other hand, has been afflicted by injuries on a regular basis. Due to a back ailment, he was forced to miss the whole 15th season of the cash-rich competition. In August 2022, he returned to international action in an ODI series against Zimbabwe.

After a lengthy injury layoff, the ace pacer was steadily regaining to form and was one of the stand-by players for the T20 World Cup 2022. However, Chahar was unable to go to Australia due to back and hip injuries. Then, in the second game of the ODI series against Bangladesh, he sustained a hamstring injury that he is still nursing.

The Chennai Super Kings paid a hefty INR 14 crore to get Chahar in the 2022 mega auction, and it remains to be seen if the Agra native would wear the yellow jersey in the following season.
