According to PTI, former Indian captain and ex-BCCI president Sourav Ganguly is scheduled to rejoin the Delhi Capitals camp ahead of the IPL 2023. After serving as a consultant with the Delhi Capitals for the 2019 season, the former India cricketer will reconnect with the capital side.
Ganguly stepped down as BCCI president in October of last year, and Roger Binny took over as the new president. The former cricketer, regarded as one of the best Indian captains of all time, will supervise the operations of the Delhi Capitals, as well as its sister teams, Dubai Capitals in the ILT20 and Pretoria Capitals in the SA20 league.
“Yes, Sourav will return to the Delhi Capitals this season. The conversations and modalities have come to an end. He has worked with the franchise, has a strong rapport with the owners, and if he had worked in IPL, he would have always worked for DC “On the condition of anonymity, an IPL source following events informed PTI.
The Delhi Capitals signed five players at the last IPL auction, including prized dashers Phil Salt and Rilee Rossouw, as well as seasoned Indian talents Manish Pandey and Ishant Sharma. However, it was the youthful untested Indian pacer Mukesh Kumar who proved to be their most costly purchase at the Kochi tournament.
The former Indian captain is said to have been consulting with Delhi Capitals head coach Ricky Ponting on a plan for the IPL 2023 auction.
