Shreyas Iyer, an Indian batter, remembered his first encounter with Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar. Iyer said that he got excellent advise from the icon when he was just starting out in domestic cricket.
When Iyer questioned Tendulkar whether he should adjust his technique, the cricket star advised him to listen to his heart and do whatever he feels comfortable doing. The Indian batter went on to say that Tendulkar is “crazy” with cricket and has numerous advice and ideas for the kid.
“I was 14 years old at the time, and Sachin sir had gone to BKC to motivate us for a competition. That was the first time I met him, and we had a one-on-one conversation during the Ranji Trophy final. We had a quick conversation, and I questioned him about technique and posture, which change over matches. “What should I do?” I asked. ‘Dekh Shreyas, whatever you believe is ideal for that day, that is the proper thing to do,’ he remarked “Iyer recently said in an interview with Mashable India.
“Sachin sir is completely devoted to cricket. He will simply talk, and he will offer you several recommendations. He said that you should do whatever makes you feel comfortable on that specific day “He went on to say.
Iyer did not make India’s Asia Cup or T20 World Cup teams in 2022, but he ended as the third-highest run-getter across formats, with 1609 runs from 39 matches, including a century and 14 half-centuries.
The Mumbai cricketer has been picked to the Indian team for the forthcoming home T20I series against Sri Lanka, but not for the three-match ODI series. Following the completion of the T20Is, the ODIs will be played at Guwahati, Kolkata, and Trivandrum on January 10, 12, and 15.
