IPL 2023 – CSK wants two players in exchange for Ravindra Jadeja from DC
According to the latest rumors, the Chennai Super Kings have requested the Delhi Capitals to swap Shardul Thakur and Axar Patel for Ravindra Jadeja.
It has previously been reported that the Capitals are willing to release or trade Shardul Thakur, the seam-bowling all-rounder who cost 10.75 crores but failed to produce throughout the tournament. He only scored 120 runs last season, and despite taking 15 wickets, the 31-year-old had an economy rate of close to 10 and an average of 31.
However, convincing DC to release Axar Patel would be challenging. Axar Patel was retained by DC before the IPL 2022 mega-auction, and he is currently an important member of the Indian side. Axar is now a part of India’s XI for the T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia, replacing the injured Ravindra Jadeja.
It will be fascinating to watch how things play out in the following weeks since Jadeja seems to have decided that he no longer wants to play for CSK after being fired as captain mid-season. However, with CSK wanting both Thakur and Axar, it is doubtful that the deal would take place, even if DC also needs a good spin-bowling all-rounder following Lalit Yadav’s underwhelming performance, particularly with the ball.
The trade window will conclude in mid-November, one month before the IPL 2023 mini-auction in mid-December.
