Prithvi Shaw posts mysterious tweet after being overlooked for the ODI against South Africa
The BCCI has chosen a 16-member squad for the forthcoming ODI series against South Africa as the Indian T20I team prepares for their T20 World Cup campaign in Australia. Shikhar Dhawan will lead the squad, with Shreyas Iyer serving as his deputy. While several players were called up, Prithvi Shaw was not one of them.
Following the end of the T20I series, India and South Africa will play a three-match ODI series. The squad included fantastic IPL and local talents like as Rajat Patidar, Shahbaz Ahmed, Rahul Tripathi, and Mukesh Kumar, among others, however, Prithvi Shaw did not make the cut.
After the roster was named, the young opening batter posted a mysterious remark on his Instagram story, and many thought that it was directed at the BCCI and the selectors, despite the fact that he did not identify anybody. “Don’t believe their words, trust their acts, because actions will reveal why words are pointless,” he said in his Instagram story.
Recently, Team India A faced a battle against New Zealand A in three unofficial Tests, followed by the same number of ODIs. The Test team was captained by Priyank Panchal, while the ODI team was led by Sanju Samson. Shaw was a member of the ODI squad, appearing in two of the unofficial ODIs and scoring 94 runs.
Shaw earned a name for himself by excelling for the Delhi-based team in the IPL. His outstanding exploits as an opener for the squad in the IPL, followed by spectacular results in the local arena, paved the way for his international career. However, things did not go as planned, and all of the excitement quickly evaporated.
Prithvi Shaw’s last ODI participation came in 2021, when a second-string Indian squad traveled to Sri Lanka for a T20I and ODI series under Rahul Dravid’s supervision, while the main team was playing red-ball cricket in England under then-head coach Ravi Shastri.
