Babar Azam Is Nearing Another Milestone, and is set to join Rohit Sharma And Virat Kohli On The Elite List

The Babar Azam-led Pakistan now leads England 3-2 in the seven-match series after beating the Three Lions in the fifth T201. Pakistan’s Mohammad Rizwan hit a quick-fire 63 off 36 balls to help the hosts defeat the Three Lions by six runs in Lahore.

Babar Azam and company will want to wrap up the series against a Jos Buttler-less England in the sixth T20I at the Gaddafi Stadium.

While Pakistan’s captain would be aiming for the side to repeat their previous match victory in the 6th T20I, Babar Azam is on the verge of accomplishing yet another achievement.

To reach 3,000 runs in the game’s shortest format, the 27-year-old must score 52 more runs. He will join the likes of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma on an exclusive list, becoming just the fifth player in T20I history to surpass 3000 runs.

Only Kohli, Rohit, Martin Guptill, and Paul Stirling have surpassed 3,000 runs in the game’s shortest format. Former Indian captain Virat Kohli is the fastest batsman to reach 3,000 runs in T20I cricket. Kohli reached the landmark in 81 innings. If Babar scores 52 runs in the sixth T20I, Pakistan’s captain would be able to equal Kohli’s accomplishment on Friday.

Babar Azam has scored 2,948 runs in 80 innings. In the shortest format, the 27-year-old has played 85 matches for the former world champions. In the current series against England, the explosive right-hander is the second-highest run-scorer. Babar has 194 runs in 5 matches against the Three Lions, averaging 48.50.

Mohammad Rizwan, the series’ opening batsman, is presently leading the way in terms of runs. Rizwan scored 315 runs in five matches against England during Pakistan’s visit.
