IPL 2023 – 3 Players who the Royal Challengers Bangalore may trade away

Under new management, Royal Challengers Bangalore competed in the 15th season of the Indian Premier League. Faf du Plessis took over as captain of the flagship franchise after Virat Kohli stood down. RCB showed a lot of potentials and seemed to be a title contender in the 2022 season. However, they were defeated at the tail end of the season, losing the second Qualifier against Rajasthan Royals.

Bangalore seemed to be more or less assured about their squad makeup, which was shown in their promising campaign. The Bangalore side, on the other hand, will aim to improve their lineup and may part ways with specific players who do not fit into their plans. Here are some players who we think, will be traded away by the Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Number 1. Siddharth Kaul

Siddharth Kaul rose to prominence in the IPL circuit after a spectacular performance with the ball for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 2017 and 2018 seasons. In those two tournaments, the Punjab pacer collected 37 wickets in 27 games with an economy of 8.3. However, he was unable to recapture the same enchantment in subsequent seasons.

At the IPL Auction 2022, RCB selected Kaul to improve their fast-bowling squad. However, the Bangalore management kept him on the bench for most of the season. He only appeared in RCB’s last group stage game, conceding 43 runs in his allotted overs.

Furthermore, Akash Deep was given a continuous run with the ball, and Mohammed Siraj’s participation is a foregone conclusion. The manner RCB management handled Kaul shows that he is not in their plans for the future and will be released during the next trade window.

Number 2. Sherfane Rutherford

Sherfane Rutherford is one of the West Indies’ budding cricketing talents. He is well-known for his power-hitting ability and has competed in T20 tournaments all around the globe. He had a fantastic season in the Caribbean Premier League in 2021, accumulating 262 runs at a strike rate of 127.18, and RCB signed him in the 2022 Mega Auction.

Because Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell was absent for the first few games of the season, Rutherford was given an opportunity to demonstrate his hitting prowess. However, the Caribbean star’s performances fell short of expectations.

Rutherford managed just 33 runs in three appearances, with a strike rate of 66.00. When Maxwell arrived, he was removed from the squad and did not play again. RCB seems to have moved on from the West Indies all-rounder, and they may release him during the next trade window to free up an overseas berth.

Number 3. Jason Behrendorff

Jason Behrendorff is regarded as one of Australia’s best left-arm fast bowlers. He’s a proven performer in the game’s shortest format, and the 32-year-old also showed his class in the Big Bash League 2021-22. He played 13 games for the Perth Scorchers, taking 16 wickets with an economy of 7.32.

Behrendorff is well-known for his swing and ability to make the ball speak in the early innings. He was picked by RCB for the 2022 Indian Premier League season. However, owing to national obligations, the Australian pacer was absent for the first few games of the tournament and was unable to break into the star-studded starting XI upon his arrival.

Given the RCB’s roster structure, the left-arm pacer could only have replaced his fellow countryman Josh Hazlewood. However, Hazlewood had a terrific season with Faf du Plessis & Co., taking 20 wickets in 12 games. This kept Behrendorff off the field. With the Bangalore club already having a left-handed alternative in David Wiley, who is also a quality batter, Jason’s departure might be imminent.
