Rangpur of the Basundhara Group makes a return as the BPL names seven franchises for the 2023-2025 seasons
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has formally declared that Rangpur, the previous Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) winners, would return for the following three seasons of the Bangladesh franchise competition from 2023 to 2025.
With Rangpur’s return, the BCB has confirmed that seven teams would compete in the next three seasons. Despite the fact that Basundara has returned, it should be noted that neither Beximco Limited nor Gemcon Group has shown an interest in participating in the event. These teams have appeared on a regular basis throughout the initial phase of the Bangladesh Premier League.
The BCB had already issued a tender for the franchise rights for the following three editions, 2023-2025, and nine companies had submitted Expressions of Interest (EOI) to become one of the seven franchises.
More crucially, the Bangladesh Cricket Board has made prior planning by releasing dates for the next three BPL tournaments.
The 2023 season will run from January 5 to February 16, the 2024 season from January 6 to February 17, and the 2025 season from January 1 to February 11.
