The BCCI has unveiled India’s new shirt ahead of the T20 World Cup in 2022
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has unveiled India’s new jersey for the forthcoming T20 World Cup in 2022. The Men in Blue will also wear the same jersey against Australia and South Africa in T20Is.
Previously, the top board intimated that a new jersey will be shown shortly, which MPL, India’s official kit sponsor, confirmed. The new shirt was widely anticipated by Indian supporters, and their wait has now come to an end.
When compared to the shirt worn by Team India at the Asia Cup 2022, the new one is a lighter shade of blue, comparable to the one worn during the 2007 T20 World Cup. Since MPL took over as the kit sponsor in 2020, this is the third Indian jersey in as many years.
As previously stated, India will face Australia in a three-match T20I series beginning on September 20 (Tuesday) at Mohali. After a dismal performance in the 2022 T20 Asia Cup, the Men in Blue will be looking to rebound before the all-important T20 World Cup in Australia.
However, the host squad has suffered a setback as experienced pacer Mohammed Shami tested positive for Covid-19. Umesh Yadav, an express pacer, has been picked as his substitute for future matches by the selection committee. Meanwhile, experienced pacers Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel have made their comeback from the Asia Cup.
In terms of the Australian camp, the visiting side has nominated skilled hitter Tim David to their roster, and the right-handed batter is anticipated to play an important part with the bat during his team’s death overs. Skipper Aaron Finch, who is currently in a slump, will also want to get some runs in before the T20 World Cup.
