SA20 – David Miller has been named as the captain of the Paarl Royals
The Royals Sports Group The Paarl Royals have named seasoned South African batsman David Miller as captain for the debut season of Cricket South Africa’s T20 competition, SA20, which begins in January 2023.
The Paarl-based club has appointed the 33-year-old as captain. He was one of two South Africans hired by the squad before the auction. Miller, who led Gujarat Titans to their maiden IPL triumph in 2022, has also recently captained South Africa (in a three-match T20I series against England in August) and the Barbados Royals in the upcoming CPL season.
Miller has a plethora of experience under his belt, having scored more than 8600 runs in close to 400 T20 matches at a strike rate of little more than 138, and is plainly delighted to be leading the Royals in his home nation.
The Paarl Royals will enter the player auction on September 19th, 2022, with four players already secured in the form of captain David Miller, explosive star opener Jos Buttler, wily pacer Obed McCoy, and effective all-rounder Corbin Bosch, all of whom have had close ties with the Royals through their partner franchises.
