Harshal Patel expresses gratitude to Rahul Dravid and Rohit Sharma for their assistance throughout his injury

Following an injury layoff, Indian bowler Harshal Patel is likely to return for the forthcoming home series against Australia and South Africa, followed by the T20 World Cup. Patel, who was unable to compete in the Asia Cup, will bat with Jasprit Bumrah in India’s T20 World Cup warm-up match against defending champions Australia.

Before the game, Patel highlighted the players’ concerns about returning and expressed thanks for having the full backing of his captain and coach. Patel is expected to play in India’s maiden Twenty20 International against Australia on September 20 at the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) in Mohali.

“They (India coach Rahul Dravid and captain Rohit Sharma) have been nothing but supportive. It does take a bit of pressure off you. Because sometimes people make foolish decisions when they’re returning to play. They’re either trying to do too much or trying to push too hard because they feel that their place is in danger or for whatever reason,” Patel said.

India will attempt to play with full vigor against Australia, using a combination that they have been unable to use owing to multiple injuries in the squad setup. With the T20 World Cup 2022 only a few weeks away, the Men in Blue will be aiming to forget their disappointing departure from the competition last year, and their attention will now be on planning for the prestigious event.
