Glenn McGrath was pleased by Umran Malik’s speed and advised the teenager not to loose his accuracy
Glenn McGrath, an Australian bowling star and former cricketer, indicated in a recent interview that he dislikes seeing fast bowlers trade their velocity for accuracy since the pure pace is unique and cannot be taught to the bowlers. He also spoke about India’s speed bowling phenom Umran Malik, who wowed audiences with his scorching pace in the IPL 2022.
Glenn McGrath, who took 949 wickets for Australia in international cricket, is largely considered the finest fast bowler of his period and the second most wicket-taker in Tests among fast bowlers with 563 scalps. The great paceman claimed that he enjoys seeing fast bowlers work hard to get accuracy rather than slowing down for accuracy.
McGrath also mentioned India’s promising tearaway pacer Umran Malik, who can clock over 150kph with relative ease. Although the pacer has battled with accuracy, he is still in the early phases of his career and has a lot of potentials. The Australian said that he hasn’t seen much of the Indian fast but is amazed by his electric speed.
Every year, the Australian veteran goes to India to coach new and future fast bowlers as a director of the MRF Pace Foundation in Chennai. He discussed the qualities that the school looks for while scouting fresh potential.
