West Indies vs India – The Best Combined Lineup from the T20I Series

After winning the series 4-1, India has given a clear message to its Asia Cup opponents that they want to compete for the crown. The dress rehearsal versus the Caribbeans was an excellent way to get into the rhythm since several players seemed to be in top form. When it came to the West Indies, the squad was hampered by the absence of the majority of its T20 specialists. The bowlers were good, but the hitters struggled much of the time. Taking into account all five T20Is, we give the best-combined XI from the recently concluded series.

Rohit Sharma and Kyle Mayers open the innings

Rohit scored 108 runs in four matches, with the top score of 64 runs off 44 balls in the opening match. The Indian skipper failed to open his account in the second match but scored 11 and 33 in the third and fourth.

Rohit has also been an outstanding team leader for India. He made sound judgments and encouraged young players like Bishnoi and Arshdeep to succeed. He is noted for giving complete freedom to all of his players, and as a result, he has yet to lose a bilateral T20 series. The Rohit effect is now in full force.

Kyle Mayers is an anomaly among West Indies players who have performed well throughout the series. Mayers was a vital presence in the West Indies dressing room, scoring 110 runs in four matches.

Unfortunately, he was unable to transform his little beginnings into large ones, and the outcome was visible to everybody. Mayers scored 15 runs in the first game, but just 8 in the second. He regained form with a 73 in the third round and a 14 in the fourth encounter.

Suryakumar Yadav, Dinesh Karthik, and Shimron Hetmyer strengthen the middle order

Suryakumar Yadav, often known as SKY, is the most reliable player in the Indian T20 squad right now. With his outstanding performance throughout the West Indies series, the Mumbai-born player has risen to second place in the ICC Men’s T20I Rankings.

Suryakumar scored 135 runs throughout the course of four matches. He made 76 runs in the third T20I, which India won by 7 wickets because to his effort. The 31-year-old was named Man of the Match.

Despite having a poor series, Hetmyer managed to score 115 runs in the five matches he played. He scored 56 off 35 balls in the fifth T20I but had no help from the other end to win the game.

His efforts were ultimately futile, as West Indies were bowled out for 100 runs, losing the match by 88 runs. After a strong showing in the last match, he may look forward to getting started and contributing to his team’s success in the forthcoming T20 World Cup.

Any T20 squad will be incomplete without Dinesh Karthik due to his current form since the IPL. He has been outstanding since the start of the Indian Premier League and has been duly called up to the Indian side for the Asia Cup 2022.

The 37-year-old was named Man of the Match in the first T20I, scoring 41 off 19 balls to assist the squad to a respectable total. He has practically established his position as the squad’s top finisher.

Hardik Pandya and Axar Patel come in as the all-rounders

With Ravindra Jadeja on the roster, Axar was never the Indian team’s first option. He did, however, get his opportunity in the fourth match when Ravindra Jadeja was injured in the second. Axar took five wickets in the next two matches and also struck a spectacular cameo of 20 runs in 8 balls in the fourth match.

Axar was named Man of the Match in the fifth T20I for his outstanding performance in the fifth match. He gave up just 15 runs in three overs while dismissing Jason Holder, Shamarh Brooks, and Devon Thomas.

Hardik Pandya pledged to make a great return in the Indian setup after being dropped last year, and boy did he! Hardik has been fairly consistent for the Indian side after a successful season in the Indian Premier League.

More than his hitting, it is his bowling that has piqued the interest of all spectators. Of course, he can finish a game from any position, but he is also incredibly efficient with the ball. The 28-year-old scored 64 runs in four matches and conceded 72 runs in 12 overs bowled. He just took one wicket, but his economical spells are what is assisting India in the middle overs.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Obed McCoy, Alzarri Joseph, and Arshdeep Singh form the bowling attack

What a performer for India in this series! India had been hunting for a left-arm seamer for some years, and with Arshdeep on board, the squad found solutions to many of their concerns.

Arshdeep was named Man of the Series after taking 7 wickets in the series. Not because of his wickets, but because the left-hander was frugal with his bowling and made a significant impact.

Alzarri Joseph was the West Indies team’s most consistent player. He took 5 wickets in 4 matches but couldn’t assist his side cross the finish line.

Among many others, he took wickets of Suryakumar Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja, and Hardik Pandya throughout the series. One of his primary talents is his steady line length. He takes use of his height as a tall quick bowler.

During the series, West Indies’ most reliable bowler was Obed McCoy. The left-arm bowler took the most wickets and was perhaps the greatest player on the West Indies team.

In the second game of the series, McCoy had the best performance of the series, taking six wickets while conceding just 17 runs. West Indies won the series on the strength of his outstanding performance.

In the absence of Jasprit Bumrah, Bhuvneshwar Kumar is Rohit Sharma’s go-to guy. Bhuvi has been outstanding for India after regaining his form during the T20 World Cup 2021. In the series, the 32-year-old took three wickets with an economy of 7.18.

Despite not picking up many wickets, the squad supports Bhuvi because of his effect on the Indian team. He is the bowling unit’s commander, and his economical spell in the powerplay makes him a highly dangerous bowler.
