Navdeep Saini has been retained by Kent Spitfires for the duration of the Royal London Cup

In the most recent statement, English county team Kent revealed that Indian pacer Navdeep Saini would continue with the Kent Spitfires squad for the duration of the Royal London Cup.

Navdeep Saini joined Kent for the County Championship and was originally expected to play five games in England’s domestic 50-over event, the Royal London Cup. However, after strong performances in the red-ball event, he has been retained for the whole 50-over tournament.

The announcement follows New Zealand bowler Matt Henry’s departure to the Caribbean after being called up to New Zealand’s white-ball squad for their tour of the Caribbean to play West Indies in both ODI and T20I matches after Kent’s first away encounter against Worcestershire Rapids on Tuesday, August 2.

After being on the outside of the Indian team, the 29-year-old Indian pacer joined the county side and made an immediate impression, scalping a fifer in his maiden appearance for Kent in their County Championship encounter against Warwickshire. Saini took seven wickets in the encounter as his team cruised to a 177-run win against the reigning champions.

The fast bowler has 11 wickets in two county matches so far and will now focus on the limited-overs format with Kent.
