The Asia Cup 2022 schedule has been released, with India and Pakistan meeting on August 28
On August 2, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) released the long-awaited schedule for the Asia Cup 2022. The event will begin on August 27 and will consist of 13 matches, including the final on September 11. Arch-rivals India and Pakistan will square off in the tournament’s second encounter on August 28 in Dubai.
After much debate and deliberation, the Asia Cup was eventually approved last month after Sri Lanka backed out of hosting the tournament due to the island nation’s continuing political crisis, with the UAE chosen as the substitute destination.
It should be noted that the tournament will involve six nations: India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan, as well as a qualifying country is chosen from the UAE, Kuwait, Hong Kong, or Singapore. Group A will include India and Pakistan, while Group B will include Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan.
The competition will be held in the UAE, and all matches will begin at 7:30 PM IST on two different fields. Dubai International Cricket Stadium and Sharjah Cricket Stadium are the two venues, with the former holding 10 games, including the final.
India, the reigning champions and the most successful team in the tournament’s history, will face Pakistan in a blockbuster match that will serve as a warm-up for their battle in the T20 World Cup later this year in Australia. The competition will also provide an excellent chance for the other Asian countries to put their squads to the test ahead of the ICC’s major event.
