Harshal Patel will be unavailable for selection till the third T20I

The West Indies and India are presently playing a five-match T20I series. On Monday (August 1), the two sides faced off in the second game of the series in St Kitts. Even before the game started, it was in the headlines for being delayed twice owing to delays in the teams’ baggage arrival. The contest was supposed to begin at 8 p.m. IST but instead began at 11 p.m. IST. The hosts won the toss and chose to bowl first, despite the fact that India was without its T20 specialist bowler Harshal Patel.

Despite having an extra pacer in the squad, Rohit Sharma revealed that the visitors chose Avesh Khan. Many were confused by Harshal Patel’s omission, despite the fact that he is currently one of India’s first-choice bowlers in T20Is. However, the BCCI has now issued an update, indicating that the bowler is now suffering from a rib ailment.

He will also be unavailable for selection for the third T20I on Tuesday, according to the board (August 2).

Meanwhile, India chose to rest leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi for the second T20I against the West Indies in order to accommodate Avesh Khan. It was regrettable, according to Rohit Sharma, and the choice was taken solely based on the circumstances available at the location.

Additionally, Rohit addressed the team’s choice to start the innings with Suryakumar Yadav, adding that the management wants the players to be versatile enough to bat at any position.
