The Indian squad has suffered yet another setback, as some key players may be ruled out of the next white-ball series against the West Indies. Ravindra Jadeja, the ODI vice-captain, may miss the series, which begins on Friday, July 22 at the Queen’s Park Oval in Port of Spain, Trinidad.
The venue will host three One-Day Internationals (ODI) between India and the West Indies before the five T20Is begin. Shikhar Dhawan has been named captain in place of Rohit Sharma, who has been rested for the 50-over games, with Jadeja as his deputy. However, according to current developments, the senior all-rounder has a niggle on his knee and will be allowed to play depending on medical recommendations.
According to a report, Jadeja will play depending on the severity of his ailment. Ravindra Jadeja may be able to return for the remaining games if the knee heals fast and without any complications, but if the condition worsens, he may have to miss the entire series.
According to BCCI sources, the 33-year-old could miss the ODI phase of the tour and return for the T20I leg. The decision will be based on the precautions necessary to avoid aggravating his condition, which is said to be his left knee. The ODIs are scheduled for July 22, 24, and 27. The T20I series will begin on July 29 and will last until August 7.
