India destroyed England in the third One-Day International (ODI) in the three-match series, winning it 2-1 just days after winning the T20I series by the same margin. After losing the one-off Test at Edgbaston, India dominated England in the white-ball phase of the trip.
While everything went India’s way, Virat Kohli’s poor form continued in this series, with only 12 runs in the two T20Is and 33 runs in the two ODIs. Even in the rescheduled Test, he only managed 11 and 20.
Sunil Gavaskar believes his advice could help Kohli get out of a rut with deliveries in the off-stump line, which he has previously battled with.
Gavaskar believes that batsmen prefer to try every ball delivered to them in order to get runs and keep the scoreboard ticking, as is the case with Kohli, who has been unable to score runs for a long time. Kohli played several brilliant shots on the current tour but lost his wicket in a similar manner in the ODI series.
Gavaskar, like many other cricketers and veterans, backed Kohli and predicted that the batting icon would return to form shortly. He believes that Kohli, who has been so consistent with the bat for so long, is allowed to make a few mistakes and that failure is part of the game.
