Sanjay Bangar is in awe of Hardik Pandya’s versatility

Sanjay Bangar, a former Indian all-rounder, praised Hardik Pandya for his versatility in playing different roles in different positions. The star all-rounder made an impact in his international debut against South Africa in the first T20I. While batting first, he scored an unbeaten 31 runs off just 12 balls, helping the home team to 211 runs. The bowlers, including Hardik, were unable to defend this massive total, as unbeaten fifties from Rassie van der Dussen and David Miller guided the Proteas to a seven-wicket victory with five balls remaining.

For the uninitiated, Hardik last played for India in the T20 World Cup last year. The Gujarat Titans captain excelled across all departments in the Indian Premier League 2022 season, making a strong comeback from a back injury. In the first T20I, he batted at number five, with Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant ahead of him. However, he rose to the occasion and delivered a brilliant return knock.

Notably, Pandya was the Titans’ anchor, with a strike rate of around 130. However, he has a strike rate of more than 250 while playing at number four for Team India in T20Is. Former Indian head coach Sanjay Bangar praised the player’s versatility in playing in a variety of positions and roles.

Meanwhile, Hardik struggled with his bowling, giving up 18 runs in his only over. The former Mumbai Indians player was also chastised by fans and pundits for denying Dinesh Karthik a single in the final over.
