Ravi Shastri believes Sanju Samson should be selected for the T20 World Cup in 2022
The Rajasthan Royals were defeated in the final of the IPL 2022 by debutants Gujarat Titans. Despite having a great season with the bat in the IPL, RR skipper Sanju Samson has not been picked to India’s team for the T20I series against South Africa. Former Indian head coach Ravi Shastri believes Samson will be a candidate for selection for the T20 World Cup later this year.
The Royals, captained by their youthful Indian captain, Samson, advanced to the tournament’s second final. The Rajasthan captain had several fantastic cameos throughout the season but only achieved two half-centuries as he concluded with 458 runs. His inability to convert beginnings into large innings proved to be his Achilles heel, as he lost a berth on the national squad to Shreyas Iyer.
However, former Indian cricketer Ravi Shastri believes that the Royals’ skipper will be useful on Australia’s bouncy pitches because he has more shots than any other Indian batsman.
While there has been much concern over Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli’s futures following their recent dismal form, Ravi Shastri believes the veterans will be on the aircraft to Australia for the T20 World Cup unless something extraordinary happens. In the run-up to the T20 World Cup later this year, India will play 30 games.
