Physio Kamlesh Jain has joined Team India’s support staff ahead of the T20I series against South Africa
Kamlesh Jain, a former Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) support staff member, has been named team India’s physio. He has taken over for Nitin Patel, who was with the team until their most recent deployment. He has been transferred to Bengaluru’s National Cricket Academy (NCA). During his 10-year tenure with KKR, Kamlesh also served as the team’s head physio. On Monday (June 6), he joined the Indian team in New Delhi for the first T20I between India and South Africa.
KL Rahul’s team practiced for about three hours at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. Jain’s selection as India’s physio was already rumored, and BCCI sources confirmed the same once he arrived in the national capital.
In terms of the T20I series, the two sides will visit Cuttack (June 12), Vizag (June 14), and Rajkot (June 17) before concluding the journey on June 19 in Bengaluru.
Meanwhile, it has been claimed that Team India head coach Rahul Dravid will not accompany the Test squad to England on June 16. He will oversee the entire South Africa series before departing with KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant, and Shreyas Iyer, who are all members of the T20I team. In addition, some of the present support personnel will depart on June 16, while the NCA staff will assist Dravid for the remainder of the South Africa series.
Prior to the England tour, India will play two Twenty20 Internationals against Ireland on June 24 and 26. The selectors are anticipated to name a separate squad for this series, with the Test squad already in England for the fifth Test, which will take place on July 1 in Birmingham. The BCCI has previously declared that VVS Laxman, a former India cricketer, and current NCA chairman, will serve as head coach for the Ireland visit.
